Essential Oils and Children

My daughter absolutely loves it when I wash her with this little oatmeal scrub parcel. It is soft enough for even babies skin and gentle enough to use all over. Just take a handful of Oatmeal, wrap in a muslin square (I use old Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish hot cloths, but any muslin material will do), secured with ribbon, string or even an elastic band and then wash all over for gently cleansed, smooth skin. Now my daughter is 5 Years old I will use 2 drops of essential oil in the parcel, but I am always really cautious of essential oils with children, sensitivity is so easily caused. As I rule I follow the great advice in Christine Westwoods Aromatherapy for the Home;

Babies 6-12mths; 1 drop of Lavender or Roman Chamomile in a diffuser, compress, or in 15ml of Sweet Almond Oil for massage or a bath.

1-6 years; 1-3 drops of Tea Tree, Lavender or Roman Chamomile as above.

7-12 years; half the recommended drops for adults-but be aware of the photosensitive oils like Bergamot and Lemon.
